Comment: Theories which put humans far above other creatures have always troubled me. It makes sense that our intelligence developed in an organic, common sensical way, not a huge leap that made us somehow God- or computer-like. Lynch theorizes that the tool of language is THE difference between our thinking and animal thinking. Our thinking developed because of language and then language developed as thinking became more advanced. I'll be interested to read more of his books.
