Summary: Final Frontier Flubs
Comment: Author Phil Farrand has put together a very detailed and well researched book that points out every goof, continuity error, blooper, plot oversight, and great bits of trivia, that made it into the first six seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I consider myself a very observant person and have watched the series many times. But even I was surprised how much I missed.
You might wonder whether the author takes a negative approach in pointing out all of these mistakes. Far from it. It's pretty clear that Farrand is a tried and true fan. His is a fun, lighthearted look at the series, using lots of humor and affection for TNG. I give the author, and his research team, a lot of credit. This task could not have been an easy one (but I'll bet it was a lot fun to put together).
Die hard and casual fans alike will enjoy this book. The guide has 434 pages and is recommended-Just what gender is Data's cat anyway?
Rating: 4
Summary: Galaxy Quest meets real life
Comment: Everything you never wanted to know about the first six seasons of Star Trek the Next Generation is listed in this book.
From the contradictory remarks by Worf concerning bathing, (how could they miss that, to classic lines like "He probably figures that we don't get to see a lot of handsome women out this way and someone like you might get a little more cooperation from me...He's probably right."
Farrand celebrates the fun lines, evaluates plots, throws heavy blows at things that offend him (particularly the message of one episode), and even finds one that he can't find anything wrong with.
Do you want to know which episodes I am referring to? You'll have to get the book. This is however for hardcore Star Trek TNG fans, casual fans may enjoy it and non-fans will declare, "get a life." but you know what. They don't have to buy the book.
Worth your money depending on which group you belong to.
