Summary: If I Were a Fairy is not the full title of this book !
Comment: I bought this book because I was looking for board books about gnomes or fairies for my baby son (with artwork similar to Lauren Mills). When I searched, this book was the only one I found. The problem is that the full title is If I Were a Fairy, or a Ballerina, or a Witch, or... Because of this I recommend the book for female children only. The book is set so that one inserts a photo of their child in the back of the book and then all the pages have faces with holes in them for the photo to show through. A cute idea, I guess, but I do not think the child's face looks like it belongs with the body at all. Then again, this is a board book and a baby wouldn't notice such things. I always look for beautiful and colorful artwork in books and this one has artwork that I would call mediocre. It was copyrighted in 1989 and is one of a group of books in which one can insert a child's photo to show in each page. Each page has a one line caption, that attempts to rhyme, which children like, but I found some of them awkward. Example: With ballet slippers and a pink tutu, I could dance gracefully for all of you. In summary, this book has a cute idea, but no beauty whatsoever.
