Comment: If you don't find the practical advice you are looking for (but I did), you will feel better about the job of parenting in general. I felt a real sense of purpose. I may not be a better parent but I do feel better about the job I'm doing!

Summary: Christ meets B. F. Skinner
Comment: Glenn Latham, a family counselor and educational consultant, achieves something remarkable in this book: He implies that if Jesus and B. F. Skinner had written child-rearing manuals, their books might have been more alike than different. Both would urge a loving, patient, positive approach, with lots of praise and hugs for good works; both would recommend rejecting bad behavior, but not the person who commits it; and both would oppose punishment as a way of modifying undesirable behavior. This book shows that reasonable people can embrace effective, scientifically validated procedures (such as positive reinforcement) without betraying their religious beliefs.
