Comment: If you are an absolute beginner this booklette might be a little useful but, there really are better choices out there. For a few dollars more you can pick up a copy of Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets : A Comprehensive Guide to Trading Methods and Applications, which is also by Mr. Murphy, or Technical Analysis by Constance Brown that will go into much greater detail.

John Murphy on Chart Analysis is really nothing more than a very brief overveiw of just a few points. This booklette is only about 50 pages in length with the remaining pages being devoted to advertisements or are simply blank. To get an idea on how brief the coverage is, consider chapter 8 on retracements, which is only a 1/2 page in length.

Better and more thorough coverage is available for free from one of the many web sites devoted to technical analysis.
