Summary: Triumph in Exile - A Triumphant First Novel!
Comment: "Triumph in Exile", a first novel by Victoria Schmidt, is a masterful effort which makes history come alive in a fascinating way! Over twenty years of research went into the writing of this book. It is a riveting story of the political and social life in Napoleonic Paris, dominated by Madame Germaine de Stael, who eventually challenged Napoleon after he had exiled her.
There are beautiful descriptive passages and marvelous characterizations providing for a truly mesmerizing page-turner! The author, and her Alma Mater, Douglass College, have every right to be justly proud of this superior book. I'm certain that no reader will be disappointed. I look forward to a fabulous movie!
