Comment: Mother Earth is smiling on the hard work of retelling the stories of long ago. This is the true teachings of the native americans of central California and the Sierra Mountains. I am sure much is lost because no one took the time to write down what these people had taught for generations. However, this book is a true line to the past and is a must for reading. You can also visit the Mooney Grove Museum to view history of native americans living in the valley and foothills.To understand the future we must except the past, and how these third world peoples were treated at the hands of the new visitors to "Their mother earth".....with book in hand I can still hear the echoes of chantes from long ago, the muffled drums...beating the rhythm of rhapsody into the night.A must book to read!
