Summary: Love this camera...Love this book!
Comment: If you are new to photography and have just bought the Olympus 2100UZ, this book is for you! Dennis Curtain does a good job of getting you up to speed quickly. THe first few chapters are a great introduction to the fundamantals of photography. The author quickly relates these photographic concepts to this specific camera. Every camera feature is explained in easy-to-follow detail. The book is logically arranged. The spiral binding is a nice feature, making it possible for the book to lay flat when you are reading and working with your camera. I have had my book almost a year and still use it now as a quick reference to review the function of a specific feature.

The only disappointment with the book that it is printed entirely in B&W without one single color picture! If the illustrations were printed in color, I would have given this book 5 stars!

You are going to love this camera and you will love this book! ...

Summary: A good starting point, but...
Comment: ... Not too helpful if you have a background in photography and can read the owner's manual.

I bought this book on the advice of many people who found it to be a good value for their money. But if you understand the basics of photography (the relationships between aperature, shutter speed and depth of field, for example) and can swim through the Olympus owner's manual, then there isn't too much this book will offer you. The only "gee whiz" moment I got while reading this was the comment that digital zoom actually is useful in movie mode, which you can't enlarge as easily as a digital photo.

If you don't know the basics of photography, this book does explain the concepts in a clear simple manner. If you just hate reading instruction manuals, this does break it down into a form that is easier to digest. Otherwise, spend the money on an extra set of batteries or more memory.

Have fun shooting, the C2100 is a great camera.
