The book takes a look at the obvious love symbols, like the heart, and obscure items that most people probably wouldn't even think of, like rice or shoes tied at the back of a newly married couple's car, and traces their history back to ancient times, various cultures, and traditions. It also provides information on the courtship traditions and wedding rituals of various countries.

I bought this a week before Valentine's Day, and it definitely got me into the spirit of the holiday. A great gift for a significant other or loved one.
