Comment: A useful book for a new beginner or more advanced hobbyist, this book does what a good photo teaching book should: Inform and inspire. The key to this series of Better Picture Guides is the layout. At least one photo on every page, text laid out in an unusual but effective way, the author tells you what he saw when he was at the scene before he took the photo; his thinking with regards to how he wanted the photo to turn out, or what he wanted to express, or what problem was facing him; and what actions he took in terms of film, filters, positioning, lighting, framing, etc. Sometimes there is a drawing showing how the photo would have changed with different composition, or a "Rule of Thumb" for handling like situations. The non-traditional way that keeps it interesting; on the opposite page is another photo supporting the same idea. You not only can learn how to take travel photos, or improve your travel photos, but can also be inspired by the photos shown.
