Summary: An East Prussian Childhood
Comment: The book is the childhood memoirs of the author, who was born in a small East Prussian village south of Konigsberg. He was a peer of my father, who was also born in the village, and so it was very interesting reading this book. As my father passed when I was young, it is as close to a first hand account of his youth that I will have, aside from the fading memories of my aunts. Unfortunately, my father, nor the Scheffler family is mentioned, aside from a relation who was a test pilot with the Luftwaffe. There's something to this, from what I understand, one of those small-village things.
